Learn more about Google and online advertising

Advanced Mobile Products Now Part of AutoByTel Suite

Scott Pechstein of AutoByTel talks about the company’s recent acquisition of Advanced Mobile by his company.  Just before the 5:00 mark, Pechstein makes his comments about how auto dealers should be using mobile.

Ring Race a rousing success

Some 200 couples participated in Ring Race III in the Houston suburb of The Woodlands on Saturday, resulting in the awarding of a $17,000 Hearts On Fire engagement ring to the winning couple of the SMS text-based scavenger hunt.

Thomas Markle Jewelers in conjunction with a host of other major partners, was the presenting sponsor, and the event was promoted heavily by radio station KRBE 104.1 FM, with the station’s morning personality Roula on hand to welcome the participating couples before the race at Town Green Park.

Ring Race uses ATS Mobile’s exclusive interactive game technology for the mobile scavenger hunt, with customized questions pertaining to the local event, and an opportunity in this case for couples to accumulate points for both the engagement ring, and second and third-place prizes.

After the competition all the couples that ran and worked to solve clues met at the nearby Kona Grill for the awarding of prizes, and once the winning couple was announced came a proposal from the groom-to-be, Jason Bondzio, to his new fiance, Cristina Saenz, to loud cheers from all on hand.

Dreams of an engagement ring lure Houston-area couples on Sat.


Saturday afternoon in Houston is the latest TreasureText event, the-brand-building mobile scavenger hunt sponsored by jewelry stores around the country using ATS Mobile’s interactive SMS text technology.

Several hundred engaged couples will be participating in “Ring Race 3 – Houston” starting at 12:00 p.m. CDT at Town Green Park and traversing through The Woodlands. The event is sponsored by Thomas Markle Jewelers, and contestants will be competing for the first prize of a $17,000 Hearts On Fire engagement ring.

For the last several weeks, Top 40 radio station KRBE 104.1 FM had been inviting listeners to register for the event, or win a guaranteed spot in the race by tuning into the Roula and Ryan morning show.  Registration was also available via Facebook.

Be on the lookout, TreasureText events will continue this spring/summer around the country including at Austin, Tex., San Antonio, Omaha, Albuquerque, Billings, Mont., and Chicago.

Geo-Conquesting with Mobile Advertising

If you’ve been around the advertising world a while, you’ve probably heard of the term “conquesting.”  We used to use it when I was in the television advertising business.  If a local business was going to have a news story about them on the local newscast, you’d call the competitor that you represent to sell them an additional advertisement within the same newscast.

Mobile advertising, however, takes conquesting to a whole new level with geo-conquesting, as you’ll learn from ATS’s Bob Bentz who speaks from Frawley Stadium–home of the Wilmington Blue Rocks.


Some of the best practices for geo-conquesting include:

  • Tell the consumer how close they are to your store.
  • Provide easy access to a map or directions on how to get back to your store.
  • Allow them to ask questions immediately, like through our Text Anytime product.
  • Provide a powerful alternative.  They are probably about to buy NOW, so you need to give them a good reason to divert back to your store.  If not, you’ve lost them.  Make them an offer they can’t refuse!

Race for the Ring

London Jewelers sponsored Race for the Ring at Flushing Meadows Park on Saturday.  Over 220 couples participated in a text message scavenger hunt with the grand prize being a $20,000 diamond ring!

Contestants were given clues via text message.  When they answered the clue, they were then given their next challenge.  To solve the challenges, couples needed to find various landmarks in the park and retrieve the correct responses.  The game was ninety minutes long and varying point values were given for each question.

Watch as the final winner receives a phone call, only somebody’s Mom called at just the wrong time!
